May 2008
J.F. Taylor, Inc. of Lexington Park, Maryland, has received three subcontracts from CAE USA of Tampa, Florida, for work on the U.S. Navy’s MH-60S/R program. As prime contractor, CAE USA is under multiple contracts for the design and manufacture of MH-60S operational flight trainers and weapons tactics trainers as well as MH-60R tactical operational flight trainers and an MH-60R avionics maintenance trainer. The contracts were awarded to CAE USA by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division in Orlando, Florida.
CAE USA has awarded J.F. Taylor, Inc. subcontracts to fabricate MH-60S and MH-60R cockpits and hardware deliverables, as well as assist in the manufacture of a MH-60R avionics maintenance trainer.
MH-60S Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) #7
CAE USA awarded J.F. Taylor a subcontract for the manufacture of the cockpit for MH-60S Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) #7.
The OFT is one of the two devices making up the MH-60S tactical operational flight trainer and is referred to by the Navy as “Sierra #7.” The Sierra #7 will be delivered to Naval Air Station (NAS) Norfolk, Virginia.
J.F. Taylor’s work share under this subcontract includes fabricating the cockpit shell and internal components; onboard racks tray, and wiring; secondary control systems for throttle, engine controls, and rotor and parking brakes; and ambient lighting.

MH-60R Tactical Operational Flight Trainer (TOFT) #5
After receiving J.F. Taylor’s cockpits and hardware for the MH-60R TOFT #4, CAE USA exercised the option for J.F. Taylor to fabricate hardware for the MH-60R TOFT #5.
The MH-60R TOFT #5, or “Romeo #5”, will be a duplicate of the TOFT #4, which consists of an Operational Flight Trainer (OFT), Weapons Tactics Trainer (WTT), Tactics Instructor Station (TIS), and associated hardware,
including 29 power trays, seven input/output distribution panels, 22 equipment racks, and nearly 1,000 cable assemblies.
Under this subcontract, J.F. Taylor’s work share includes fabricating the cockpit shells, internal components and on-board and off-board racks with trays and wiring; the ambient lighting and secondary control systems for the throttle, engine controls, rotor brake, and parking brake; integration of the SCT electric control loading for the primary controls; and the avionics interfaces. The MH-60R TOFT #5 will be delivered to NAS North Island.

MH-60R Avionics Maintenance Trainer (AMT)
J.F. Taylor, Inc. was recently awarded a subcontract by CAE USA to assist in the manufacture of an MH-60R Avionics Maintenance Trainer (AMT). J.F. Taylor will be involved in the build, installation, and testing of simulated avionics boxes and cables for the trainer, as well as internal structures, including the center console, main instrument panel, and avionics racks. The equipment will be delivered to CAE USA in Tampa, Florida and will ultimately be installed at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) in Jacksonville, Florida.
