J.F. Taylor, Inc. to Provide MH-60S Visual System to Lockheed Martin
October 2003
J.F. Taylor,
Inc. (JFTI) was recently awarded a contract from Lockheed
Martin, Manassas, to provide the visual system for the MH-60S
Tactical Operational Flight Trainer #2 (TOFT #2). Under
another contract with NAVAIR, JFTI built the MH-60S TOFT
#2 cockpit, which was delivered to Lockheed Martin Manassas
in August.
“J.F.
Taylor’s experience with H-60 simulators and as a master
integrator will contribute to this project’s overall
success,” says Frank Miller, Program Manager. “We
are delighted to provide material and services to Lockheed
Martin so they may provide the Navy with a superb training
device.”
The visual system will consist of a SEOS Panorama collimated
display system with a field of view of 200 degrees by 60
degrees. The image generator will be Aechelon’s
newly released pC-NOVA (v.2.0), and will contain five out-the-window
channels. The image generator will have two additional
channels dedicated for the crew’s simulated night vision
goggles. JFTI will complete the visual system delivery
and integration in June 2004.
When completed, the device will be delivered to NAS North
Island, CA. This $4 million contract also includes
an option for another visual system for use on MH-60S
TOFT #3, to be delivered to NAS Norfolk, VA.
The MH-60S Knighthawk is the Navy’s newest helicopter,
and is replacing the H-46 helicopters. It was designed to
adapt to many different missions, including domestic or combat
search and rescue, medical evacuation, supply replenishment,
Naval gunfire support, communications relay, and anti-mine
countermeasures.
