Simulation Systems
Support
Since 1990, JFTI personnel have worked
at the Manned Flight Simulator (MFS) at Naval Air Systems
Command (NAVAIR), Patuxent River, providing services to
many different MFS laboratories and associated projects. At the core of the MFS are
flight simulation and stimulation laboratories supporting
flight-testing operations, R&D, Test & Evaluation,
and Fleet training. This ground test facility tests
naval aviation hardware and software in a safe and controlled
environment.
The laboratory architecture is generic,
modular, and flexible by design, allowing the various simulation
cockpits, eight lab stations, and other simulation assets
to be reconfigured in a matter of minutes. Multiple customers can “fly” simultaneously,
either singly, or interactively. Simulation sessions are
scheduled hourly for testing, training, research, or technological
development.

A JFTI employee flies Patuxent River's V-22
flight simulator over a nearly real simulation
of the base and surrounding terrain.
JFTI employees work in the heart of the MFS operation, developing,
operating, and maintaining the systems for both the simulation
and stimulation laboratories, including:
- Laboratory Management
- Laboratory Operations and Maintenance Team
- Laboratory Software Engineers
- Avionics Modeling
- System Executive Software
- Software Interface Software
- Laboratory Hardware Engineers
- Electrical
- Mechanical
- RF/IR/EO
- Aircraft Equipment
- Visual System Database Developers
- Laboratory Technicians
- Administrative and Financial Support
- Parts Control
